Young Adult & Family Ministry
Welcome to the Young Adult & Family Ministry page on the Trinity Website. This aspect of Trinity's ministry is made up of a committed team of young adults who work with Pastor Jeff (Trinity's Young Adult Pastor), to build up the spiritual life of young adults at Trinity. Our ministry takes many forms and reaches a wide variety of people in different life situations.
WELCOME AU STUDENTS!!
Upcoming Events:
FAMILY CANOE TRIP
Join us for our annual family canoe trip on Sunday, August 15, at 2:30, co-sponsored by our Young Adult Ministry and our New TST Outdoor Ministry. Meet at Mohican Adventures Canoe Livery (on Route 3, just south of Loudonville) at 2:30 pm in the Big River Pavilion. Cost is $13 per person (Children 10 and under are free if riding with two paying adults), which includes the canoe trip, pizza, and beverages. (That’s only $26 for a family of four with small Children!) Bring a finger food (chips, cookies, etc.) to share and meet us for a fun (and frugal) afternoon of fun. Note: If your children are over 10, it will be $13 for them in addition to the parents' cost.
Some other examples of Trinity's Young Adult & Family Ministry include:
1) A "Bridging Ceremony" for High School Seniors at graduation time to symbolize the "crossing over" from childhood to young adulthood.
2) Ministry to college students, including those who grew up at Trinity and are off at school, as well as Lutheran students at Ashland University. Pastor Jeff works with a student ministry group at AU called LSM (Lutheran Student Movement) which meets every week on campus for fellowship, prayer, and Bible study. The AU Lutheran Student Movement group recently hosted a four-state regional retreat for LSM groups from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky. Not only is the AU chapter of LSM one of the most active in the IMOK Region, but regularly has one of the Regional Officers elected from their group.
3) Ministry to Singles has become a growing aspect of Trinity's Young Adult Ministry including a group for Single Parents. In addition, our Singles Ministry regularly plans fun outings for fellowship and Bible Studies for spiritual growth. Both of these groups are fairly new and continue to grow under the leadership of Vanessa Keske & Bea Kamp.
4) Ministry to Young Families is a significant aspect of Trinity's Young Adult Ministry. We have a large number of Sunday School classes for young couples. All of these classes are vital, active, caring communities where fellowship, Bible Study, mission, and service take place.
5) Monthly Young Family Outings are a regular part of our ministry to young families. Such activities range from canoeing, bowling, game nights, movie nights, scrapbooking, fishing, water skiing, camping, white water rafting, paintball, Indians and Cavs games, and more.
Missions & Service are key elements of the Young Adult & Family Ministry. Mission trips for college & career-aged young adults near and far, have taken place. In the fall of 2006, we sponsored a Habitat for Humanity house here in Ashland in which 25 people from Trinity participated. More local, national, and international mission trips and projects are being planned in the years to come. As well, there are a multitude of opportunities for young adults to use their gifts in service to Christ at Trinity including drama, music, youth work, and more.
