Beacon After School Program
We're pleased to welcome the Beacon After School Program throughout the week . This ministry began several years ago here at Trinity and currently serves over forty children in grades 2-6 from the Ashland City Schools. Our teachers share the love of Christ as they help with homework, tell Bible stories, and lead many exciting activities. If you'd like to learn more about this ministry, please contact Dawn Forbes at dawn(at)trinityashland.org or 419-289-2126.
Our Mission Statement
- While Trinity Lutheran Church is a traditional Lutheran parish with traditional Lutheran worship, our ministry does not stop there. We believe that doing for others in our community is also our mission as a congregation. Jesus tells us to "go and do".
- We strive to reach children who meet several criteria, who might otherwise fall throught the cracks, helping them gain the tools to succeed and build self-esteem.
- These elementary-aged children from the Ashland City Schools are referred to us by the schools' liaisons.
- Our curriculum will include Bible lessons, crafts, recreation, homework time, outreach, special guests, and a healthy snack in a safe and loving environment.
- We will help guide each child's moral compass in a loving and Christian manner.
Amie Spieldenner, Director
My name is Amie Spieldenner and I am the new Beacon After School Program coordinator. I’ve lived in Ashland all my life and am a graduate of Ashland High School and Ashland University with a degree in education. I am married to Ben Spieldenner and we have two children, Bella is 3 years old and Bek is 18 months. I am looking forward to being a part of the Beacon Program and to having the opportunity to share God’s love with the children of Ashland.
Lindsey Buren, Assistant
My name is Lindsey Buren and this is my third year with The Beacon After School Program. I am a senior at Ashland University majoring in Child and Family Studies with a minor in Sociology. I am graduating in May and then getting married a couple weeks thereafter, which is very exciting for me! I have missed the Beacon kids dearly over the summer and I am looking forward to starting back up this year so I can see their smiling faces every day!
