Middle & High School Youth Ministries

Matt & Lauren McClain

Welcome to Trinity Lutheran Youth Ministries!  Our Director of Youth Ministries, Matt McClain, hopes the info on this page is helpful to anyone seeking to get connected or stay involved in TLC Youth Ministries! Read on for more detailed descriptions of our ministries.

In 1 Timothy 4:12, the Apostle Paul writes, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for all believers."  At Trinity, we believe that young people should be a vital and active part of the church.  Our goal is to meet students where they are in life and help them know Christ and grow in their love of God and the people around them!

At Trinity, we offer ministries for both middle school and high school youth.  All activities are designed with a purpose in mind, namely one of the following: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and outreach.  We recognize God's initiation of faith through baptism and seek to provide an environment in which our youth will confirm their faith as they become actively committed disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You'll find a description of all our regular weekly/monthly youth ministries below.  For information on youth activities, sign-ups for special events, medical release and other forms, or information about youth and adult leadership teams, please check this web page and the bulletin board/door at the Youth Office directly across from Jack's Place. For more specific information, please contact our Director of Youth Ministries, Matt McClain.

We hope to see you around soon!  Our prayer for those who get involved is that you'll "be encouraged in heart and united in love,.. in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge...  So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness" (selections from Colossians 2:2-7).

Take Note!

Sunday School Each fall around Labor Day, Trinity kicks off the new Sunday school year with a church-wide celebration called “Rally Day.”  We offer classes for both Middle and High School youth.  They meet in the Youth Area (under Jack’s Place) from 9:30–10:30am on Sunday mornings with the purpose of engaging in relational, relevant, and real-life issues that help us all get to know Christ!

Catechism Catechism and Confirmation are an important part of a student’s faith journey.
Catechism is the affirmation of baptism; where a child becomes responsible for his or her own faith. Students in grades 7 and 8 will meet monthly to explore Lutheran Heritage and Biblical Foundations. At the end of our students’ 8th grade year, they will be invited to confirm their faith by making a public testimony. This is known as “Confirmation” in our church. If an 8th grade student has not participated in the past, he or she is welcome to join this year. We will work with the student to cover the material missed in the previous year.
Our TLC Youth Ministry Team also provides other opportunities for middle schoolers to grow in faith: rake ‘n run, visiting nursing homes, spring break service, fair day, bonfires, retreats, gym/game nights, a Super Bowl party, laser tag, canoeing, and more.

Mosaic Wednesday from 5:15-7:30pm: All 6-12th graders are invited to our Wednesday evening ministry. The Youth Area will open at 5:15pm for fun and games, and then we’ll dive into some time with your D-group (small group) around 6:00pm.

Other Activities – Youth Council (student leadership team for 9-12th graders); mission, service, and outreach ventures; Youth Sundays (Fifth Sundays in Praise Worship and a garden service).

TLC Youth Ministry Team (and adult volunteers) – To do the things mentioned above we need friendly, God-loving people willing to partner with us in pouring their lives into our young people. We make an effort to empower people from all walks of life – parents, college students, young marrieds, seniors – who are willing to offer themselves or their resources to work with, around, behind, and for the youth program. Please pray about how you might become involved and talk to Matt, if interested.
