Catechism

During the baptismal ceremony, parents promise to see to it that the child is taught the faith.  One option for that is Catechism, a two-year experience for 7th and 8th graders that leads to "Confirmation", a time when they confirm publicly what God began in them at their baptism.

Meeting each Sunday evening, the seventh graders have a year of Bible study.  This is material many of them have already covered in Sunday School, but at a deeper level than is possible with small children.  The eighth graders have a year of doctrinal study (i.e. What we believe about Jesus, God the Father, the Holy Spirit, baptism, communion, and the like.)

Confirmation is the third Sunday of May each year for those eighth graders who have completed catechism and who then desire to publicly affirm Jesus as the Lord of their lives.
